I can't believe how much hate mail I'm receiving for doing an all iPhone TWiT. People are calling me an Apple fanboy. I guess I should do a show on the Microsoft Surface instead?
I understand that people are burned out on the iPhone, but it dwarfed all other tech stories for the week. In fact, was there any other tech news this week?
Leo, Don't let the vocal minority get to you. Your show is This Week In Tech and this was perhaps one of the biggest tech product launches of the decade. I mean, WTF were people expecting you to do?
Leo, the truth is, who cares about the other stuff. I'm a PC guy, and I've already said that the next thing I get is an Apple and I really do want a I-Phone, but I'm in no rush, I'll wait for it to drop, I don't have to be that guy with the first phones, 1st Gen Xbox users should have known that.
I thought it was a good show and listened to it again in the car yesterday. And exactly what else happened last week besides the iphone launch? Any tech company that tried to compete got so lost in the noise they don't exist.
What ever peope say, they like them, don't like them. One fact is true its a breakthrough in internet/celular comunication..and you covered it for us Leo...I think alot of the anger is driven by the price tag.
Leo, it was a good TWIT panel, getting first hand insight/reviews from folks with actual iPhones. Irregardless of what your detractors may think, iPhone sold, by estimates, 300,000 to 700,000 units in 4 days. Hey, that's news.
Leo, it was a great show. ONLY "complaint" is that if you'd waited till Sunday, everyone would have had more experience with the phone. But I loved it anyway.
Leo, it was a good show. You would have gotten hate mail no matter what - right now the iPhone is a polarizing product. Kind of like war or abortion in politics.
If you do an all iPhone show, as you saw, the iPhone haters send email. If you did a no iPhone show or tried to create other news to artificially balance it out, the rabid iPhone fans would have sent email because of the elephant in the room.
Meh, why people take the time to complain about a free podcast that was about something they're not interested in baffles me.
Keep up the great work Leo!
X--fingers crossed that the iPhone will hit Canada by the holiday season this year--X
Cheers!
Leo, don’t bow to the will of Idiots, your shows are Tech Shows, that is what you do… Be proud of all your shows… I don’t understand some people, if they don’t like it why don‘t they just turn it off? It’s not like someone is twisting there arm.. I am tired of hearing about the iPhone too, but that doesn’t make me stop listening or send you hate mail? You do a great job ( for Free ) and don’t let anyone tell you different..
iPhone overload. TWIT is heard around the work in many countries and I bet that many people outside the States just didn't want to hear about something that they were far away from touching.
I, on the other hand, enjoyed the TWIT episode. It put a lot in perspective.
Listened to it last night. Good show and you got some great peeps together for this TWIT. Good to hear the good and bad things about the Iphone. Keep up the great work!
The media are definitely burned out about the iPhone stories, but it WAS the huge story this week and you needed to do the show. I'm talking to lots of journalists now and I'm hearing they're spent on iPhone stories, so we should give them a break.
I too enjoyed the TWIT podcast all about the Iphone. Multiple perspectives with none of those people giving in to Apple. Leo, you now have something similarly in common with Paul Thurrot lol. You two have haters from both sides.
I do not own an iPhone, I do not want an iPhone, I have never owned an Apple computer ... however, I have to admit it is an amazing product. Maybe when they get the bugs out ... and my stock goes up some more.
mayhaps, for a break, get away from the whole mobile web bug catching on to the U.S. and do a bit of tech nostalgia, like: "back in my day, we didn't even have phones" ;)
Leo, wasn't that the biggest news in tech? Don't you cover tech? I think you did exactly what is appropriate by covering the biggest consumer electronics launch in maybe all of time. Why are people so anti-Apple, anyway? I can't think of anything they've done that's wrong for society. If anything, they've pushed technology forward (first consumer PC, the 3-1/4 drive, first PDA, Firewire, standard USB, standard Ethernet, built-in cameras, first consumer GUI, and more).
First the iphone is only a breakthru in the interface and design underneath it still doesnt match the other smartphones that are on the market but it is also only a 1st gen product. I am in Australia so we dont have it but there is enough coverage on the web for me to gather this info.
@psimac "why are people so anti-apple" - its not the company its the loudmouth fanbois that turn people off I know it stopped me from even considering Apple for a long time.
Leo doesnt come close to being an over the top fanboi I listen to his podcasts and watch his TV shows and he points out the faults, where present, on all products and companies.
I didnt listen to Twit 103 because it indicated clearly that it was about the iphone. I made my choice and it wasnt that hard. If people didnt like it they werent forced to listen to it
I am a PC guy but have owned a mac mini for 18months or so but nothing I have found on the mac has made me want to switch but that is my choice and everyone is free to use the "tool" that best suits their needs
I wouldn't worry too much about the whingers out there complaining about the all iPhone TWiT this week. Tell 'em all to get stuffed. ;) At least you're giving everyone outside the States an insight into the iPhone before it hits our shores. If they didn't want to hear it, they should've gone and hidden underneath a rock. Really, what ever happened to "if you don't like it, don't listen to it"?
APPLE SUCKZ, they don't want Australia to have there iphone till 2008, plus in technology (phone) we must be in front of the USA. YEAH Telstra just said the first issue of the iphone will not and is not supported in Australia due to 3G

If you're in the tech news industry and you're not covering the iPhone this week, you're not doing your job.
